V for VITAL

V for VITAL

What do All Christians believe?  It seems very difficult today to find anything that Christians agree on.  We tend to focus on our areas of disagreement rather than our areas of agreement.  However, for 2,000 years Christians have agreed on these five things.  They are our bedrock.  This 2 part series will bring out these 5 (V) areas where we must continue to stand together and stand firm.

Below you will find mp3 audios, sermon outline that are filled in, sermon outlines that are not filled in, and “inserts” which can be printed out, folded, and inserted into your Bible and held in place with a red rubber band.  I will eventually put up a Powerpoint template you can use, but I do not have it yet.

Even though these truths have long been agreed upon by Bible believing saints through the ages, and many have even given their lives to defend these beliefs, I am indebted to a message I heard in college from the late Curtis Hudson for the 5 point outline which all begins with the letter “V.”   It made an impression on me at the time and I have always been able to remember these 5 points as a result.  May the Lord bless you and your church as you preach, teach, and live these truths.

Right Click on the Links below and choose “save target as” from the menu, and then save the mp3 audio file to your desktop or

any folder you choose.  I would create a folder in “My Documents” called “V for Vital” and save all documents into that folder so you are able to keep them all together.

Ideas On How To Benefit The Most From This Series

This is a series on basic doctrine which is sorely lacking in the modern church.  Although this is not specifically Baptist doctrine, that would be another series, it is the most basic level of orthodox Christian doctrine.  When we say that is what All Christians believe, that is true for All Christians of All generations.

A couple of years ago there was a movie called “V for Vendetta.”  This season there is a TV series called “V.”   Of course, there was the signal made popular by FDR “V for Victory.”    Here are some thoughts for popularizing and using the series in your church.  When I did the series, I used a “V” nickel from my coin collection.  This actually predates the Buffalo Nickel.  You can find some pictures of the “V” nickel online.  Of course, “V” is the Roman Numeral for 5 and there are 5 truths All Christians believe.

Here are some ideas:

  • “V” Sunday at the beginning or the end of the series with a dinner or special speaker on one of the topics.
  • “V” buttons.  Use the Logo or create your own and create 1 inch buttons to give to everyone which says, they believe in the V.
  • “V” stickers.  Stickers are less than buttons and the kids love them.
  • “V” cards.  Create cards that state each belief and have the supporting Bible passages listed.
  • “V” pledge.  Have a “V” pledge.  Ask your people to commit to knowing, understanding, and defending the “V.”
  • Use videos during the sermon that show Christians standing up for their faith.  There are plenty of examples of Christians today standing up for their faith.  There are excellent movies, like “Luther,” which show someone standing up for doctrine.
  • Have skits of a scenario in which someone might be called on to stand up for their beliefs.
  • Ask for testimonies.  You might be surprised.
  • Let me know how you have used the series and we will pass the ideas along.
