20 Miraculous Things Happened The Moment You Followed Christ

20 Absolutely Miraculous Things that Happened the “Moment” You Decided to Become a Follower of Christ…

Power of a Moment, #PowerOfOneJesus walked down the Galilee beach.  He intentionally headed there with a purpose.  He was going fishing, not like most people on the coast that day.  He was fishing for men.  Jesus was on a serious mission to recruit some special people for a big job.  But it was even more than that.  He was making them an offer.  It was an offer that would change the world, bring people to God in a radically new way, redeem their own souls, and grow and expand these people in the process in ways they could not even begin to imagine.  He was following up with some men who He had already spent time with, Peter, Andrew, James and John.

19 And He said* to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him. 21 Going on from there He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in the boat with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and He called them. 22 Immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him.  (Matthew 4:19-22 NASB)

These four men made a “momentary” decision to accept Jesus’ offer.  Their moment came and they became followers of Christ.  Notice that Matthew says they “immediately” left and followed Jesus.  They made an immediate choice, a momentary decision that changed their lives, the lives of their families, their destiny, and the world.  They made a decision in a moment.

Can One Moment Change Your Life Forever?

Was there a moment when you decided what you wanted to do with your life?  Was there a moment when you decided where you wanted to attend college?  Was there a moment when you decided to take a job?  Was there a moment when you just knew that you wanted to marry your spouse?  Huge things are decided in a moment.

One phone call, one letter, one moment of inspiration, one touch, one kiss, can change your life.  So can one temptation.

A Moment Can Be Magic Or Tragic.

Some of our momentary decisions have positive effects and some have negative impact.  How do make sure we have more moments that are positive and fewer moments that are negative?

In our current series, The Power of ONE, we discuss the power of one word, the power of one person, the power of one moment, the power of one name, and the power of one sacrifice.  One moment can be magic.  In fact the moment of salvation was truly a “magic moment” in the life of every follower of Christ.  Whenever a person decides to put their trust in Christ and Christ alone for salvation, God does several miraculous things in his or her life.  There are at least 20 specific and real things which happen at the very moment of salvation.  Look at a partial list below. 20 Absolutely Miraculous Things that Happened the “Moment” You Decided to Become a Follower of Christ…

1.  All Your Sins Were and Are Forgiven Forever Colossians 1:13-14, Ephesians 1:7

13 For He rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, 14 in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses

2.  You were Justified (Declared Righteous) by God Romans 3:24-26

24 being justified as a gift by His grace through the redemption which is in Christ Jesus; 25 whom God displayed publicly as propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed; 26 for the demonstration, I say, of His righteousness at the present time, so that He would be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.

3.  You Were Reconciled to God 2 Corinthians 5:19

19 namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

Reconciliation means a change of relationship
from hostility to harmony and peace between two parties.

4.  You Instantly Became a Saint 1 Corinthians 1:2

2 to the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, saints by calling, with all who in every place call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, their Lord and ours:

5.  God Broke the Power of Sin in Your Life Romans 6:7,14

7 for he who has died is freed from sin.

14 For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

6.  You Received Direct Access (a Backstage Pass) to God the Father Ephesians 2:17-18

17 And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; 18 for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father.

7.  You Were Joined Inseparably to God’s Love Romans 8:35-39

38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

8.  You Became A Card Holding Citizen of Heaven Philippians 3:20

20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

9.  You were Appointed a Foreign Ambassador for Christ Jesus
2 Corinthians 5:20

20 Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.

10.  Your Body Became an Official Temple of God 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 6:19

16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

19 Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?

11.  You Are Seated with Jesus Christ in Heavenly Places Ephesians 2:6-7

6 and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, 7 so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

12.  You Were Assigned a Unique Task to Complete Ephesians 2:10

10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

13.  You were Regenerated (Born again into God’s Family) by the Holy Spirit. Titus 3:5, John 3:5-7

Titus 3:5 (NASB)

5 He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit,

John 3:5-7 (NIV)

5 Jesus answered, “I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You must be born again.’

Regeneration is the act of God which imparts new life to the believer.

14.  You Were Legally Adopted into God’s Family Romans 8:15-16

15 For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God,

Being born again emphasizes the idea of coming into God’s family as a babe with the attendant need for growth and development (John 1:12; 3:3). But adoption teaches the ideas of adulthood and full privileges in the family of God.

15.  You were Baptized into the Body of Christ by the Holy Spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:13

1 Corinthians 12:13 (NASB)

13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body, whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free, and we were all made to drink of one Spirit.

The Work of the Spirit that places a person in the body of Christ.

16.  The Holy Spirit Took Up Residence in Your Body. Romans 8:9, 1 John 3:24

24 The one who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. We know by this that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us.

9 However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.

17.  Your Soul was Sealed for Eternity by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13,14; 4:30

13 In Him, you also, after listening to the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise,

30 Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

18.  You Received a Supernatural Ability (Super Power) from God’s Spirit. 1 Peter 4:10

10 As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

19.  You Closed on a Home in Heaven. John 14:1-2

1 “Do not let your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you.

20.  Your Name was Written in Inerasable Ink in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Revelation 3:5; 20:12

5 ‘He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.

That is Truly One Magic Moment!

We Can Have More Magic Moments!

It is possible to have more magic moments.  We need to be ready to seize the moment and seize the day when it comes by.  Jesus did not walk on Galilee Beach everyday.  What if Peter and the rest had not been ready to seize their moment?  Would it have thwarted God’s plan for the world? No.  But it would have thwarted the plan of God in Peter’s life.  So we need to be prepared for the moments.  How can we?

That is what part three of the series is about.  However, if you want to download the list of 20 Absolutely Miraculous things that happened the moment you decided to follow Christ, you can do that.  God did those incredible things for you because you are so very valuable and important to Him, and He really wants to use you to change the world.
